Overview

As a telephonic interpreter within LSA's network of Independently Contracted Interpreters, your role involves handling on-demand phone calls and facilitating effective language communication for the Limited English Proficient (LEP) community. Your work supports diverse environments such as medical, legal, and customer service sectors.

Responsibilities

• Provide effective telephonic remote interpreting
• Answer inbound calls promptly and professionally
• Deliver exceptional customer service
• Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to the Code of Professional Conduct
• Follow all policies, procedures, and industry-specific best practices for interpretation
• Complete required training and participate in ongoing Quality Assurance monitoring

Qualifications & Experience

• Full fluency in both English and Vietnamese
• Proficiency in technology, including web platforms, email, and Microsoft Word
• Access to a landline phone to ensure sound quality
• Quiet, secure space free from outside noise for interpreting
• At least 2 years of professional interpreting experience (preferred)
• Industry-specific certifications or training (e.g., CMI, CCHI) (preferred)
• Proof of 40+ hours of medical interpreting training (e.g., Bridging the Gap, Cross-Cultural, etc.) (preferred)
