Supportive Care is seeking a dedicated Vietnamese-speaking translator to assist with resident therapy sessions at a local nursing home, helping bridge communication and enhance patient care.

About Supportive Care

We are a behavioral healthcare company with an exceptional team of clinicians providing comprehensive pharmacological, psychological, and behavioral health services across skilled nursing facilities, assisted living, and memory care communities.

Responsibilities

• Consecutive Interpretation: Relay messages between the licensed therapist and Vietnamese-speaking residents with near-perfect accuracy. Use first-person phrasing (e.g., "I am in pain") to maintain a direct connection between therapist and patient.
• Meaning-for-Meaning Translation: Capture the tone, spirit, and intent of messages rather than literal translations to ensure clarity in exercises and safety instructions.
• Cultural Mediation: Identify and explain cultural nuances affecting treatment, such as traditional health beliefs ("hot and cold" syndromes) or social norms related to eye contact and physical touch.

Flexible Work Schedule

• Set your own hours between 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, Monday through Friday
• Part-time and full-time opportunities available (varies by location)

Compensation

$18 - $22 per hour

Qualifications (Minimum Requirements)

• Must be able to commute to Houston 2-3 days per week
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; a Bachelor’s degree in interpretation, translation, or related field is preferred
