  • Pay Rate: $20 - $23 per hour (no less than applicable minimum wage)

Role Overview

The Vietnamese Video-Telephone Interpreter facilitates real-time communication between Vietnamese and English speakers across various industries such as healthcare, government, insurance, legal, and emergency services. This role involves verbal interpretation to ensure clear understanding, respecting cultural nuances, and maintaining professionalism at all times.

This is a remote position — you'll work from your home office, so a quiet and secure environment is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to video and audio interpreting sessions with professionalism and friendliness
  • Participate in online training and skill enhancement sessions
  • Use dedicated devices (laptop, desktop, mobile, tablet) for interpretation and data entry
  • Accurately interpret concepts and meanings, adhering to established protocols
  • Maintain clear speech, proper pronunciation, and politeness in both languages
  • Stay composed during challenging or emotional calls, such as emergencies
  • Be punctual and available during scheduled hours
  • Follow client instructions and protocol, ensuring LEP (Limited English Proficiency) needs are met without unauthorized interaction
  • Understand industry-specific terminology, including medical, legal, financial, and insurance terms
  • Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and adaptability in a diverse environment
  • Note: Some calls may be lengthy, emotional, or high-pressure; strong resilience and professionalism are required

Qualifications & Skills

  • Fluent in Vietnamese and English, with cultural competency
  • Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking abilities
  • Professional, neutral, and objective demeanor on calls
  • Experience or education in language-related fields (preferred)
  • Comfort with technology and adaptability to updates
  • Must be at least 18 years old and legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Ability to read and write in requested languages (highly preferred)
  • Willingness to undergo background checks and drug screening if applicable

Technical & Physical Requirements

Technical

  • Dedicated personal device (computer, tablet, or smartphone)
  • Operating Systems: Windows, MacOS, ChromeOS, iPadOS, Android
  • Reliable high-speed internet (minimum 5 Mbps download, 3 Mbps upload)
  • Access to a quiet workspace free of background noise
  • Avoid restricted brands like Kaspersky or Huawei hardware

Physical

  • Proficiency operating keyboard, mouse, and software systems
  • Use of headset for long periods
  • Sufficient manual dexterity for typing/writing
  • Ability to lift up to 26 lbs
  • Remain in a stationary position and operate equipment comfortably during shifts
