📝 Position Overview

The Haitian Creole & French Medical VRI is responsible for managing on-demand audio and video calls to serve our limited English proficient (LEP) community and practitioners across industries such as Healthcare, Government, Community, and Education. 📱🎥

🎯 Job Functions

• Provide effective video and audio interpreting sessions professionally.
• Capture company-provided data during interpreting sessions when necessary.
• Show the ability to adapt quickly to new and evolving technologies.
• Follow interpreter ethical standards and procedural protocols specific to the interpreting environment.
• Commit to cultural sensitivity and working within a diverse environment.
• Respect and understand our LEP clients’ culture, dialect, beliefs, and preferences.
• Maintain a strong passion for customer service and accurate interpretation.
• Remain professional throughout all video and audio sessions.
• Speak clearly in both languages with proper pronunciation, enunciation, and courteous expressions.
• Render precise concepts and meanings following interpreter protocol.

🎓 Qualifications

• Fluent in both Haitian Creole and French, with strong verbal communication skills in both languages (Haitian to English and vice versa).
• Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills to ensure high accuracy.
• Successful completion of a proficiency assessment or hold a national certification.
• Extensive knowledge of ethical codes and standards of practice (IMIA, NBCMI, NCIHC).
• Work environment compliant with HIPAA regulations.
• Must be at least 18 years old.

🌟 Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to read and write in the required languages.
• Degree or certification in interpreting practices.
• National Medical Interpreter Certification by CCHI, NBCMI, or DSHS.
• Completion of an accredited medical interpreting training course (e.g., ALTA, MITS, Bridging the Gap, MiTio, Cross-Cultural training, 40-hour courses).

• High-speed internet connection; cable or fiber optic preferred.
• HIPAA-compliant workspace with four walls and a lockable door.
• Computer connected directly to the modem.
• Home office with a blue or green backdrop.
• Quiet, distraction-free environment free from noise, pets, or outside disturbances.
