What You'll Be Doing 📝

This position involves performing skilled consecutive, first-person interpretation. Work is performed under direct supervision, following well-defined policies and procedures. While there is limited opportunity for independent judgment, most non-routine problems are referred to a supervisor. This description applies across all languages spoken by our interpreters.

Essential Functions (Major Duties & Responsibilities) 🎯

• Provides meaning-for-meaning interpreting to ensure accurate communication.
• Follows CyraCom's interpreter protocols based on training, policies, and procedures.
• Adheres to all confidentiality and ethical standards related to interpreter services.
• Attends all required training sessions provided by the CyraCom Quality and Development Department.
• Continuously enhances vocabulary and specialized knowledge in fields such as medical, legal, and social services.
• Maintains strict confidentiality in accordance with company policies.
• Operates standard office equipment like telephones, computers, copiers, and fax machines.
• Utilizes MS Office applications including Outlook, Word, and your preferred internet browser.
• Demonstrates punctuality, reliability, and the ability to follow directions while completing tasks on schedule.
• Communicates effectively in person and over the phone, in English and other languages.
• Learns from feedback, observations, and experiences; works independently or collaboratively.
• Interacts professionally with co-workers, supervisors, and clients.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities 💡

• Fluency in English and the target language.
• Strong oral and written communication skills in both languages.
• Basic understanding of linguistics and cultural differences.
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances.
• Calm and effective reaction in emergency situations.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently, exercising initiative within company policies.
• Exceptional commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
• Proficiency in informing supervisors of issues or concerns.
• Ability to build and sustain positive work relationships.
• Competent in Microsoft Office Suite and internet applications.
• Capable of operating office equipment such as computers, scanners, fax machines, and telephones.

Qualifications ✅

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proficiency in English and at least one other language, as verified by our language Checkup assessment.
