Position Overview: Part-Time Upper School Mandarin Teacher 📚

We seek a talented, passionate educator to teach two sections of Mandarin—Level 2/3 and Level 4—in our modular schedule. The primary goal of this role is to present Mandarin as a vital communication tool within a global context, employing proficiency-based methods that develop listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills while fostering cultural empathy.

What You'll Do

  • Teach two sections of Upper School Mandarin: Including Mandarin Conversation courses (x-bin)
  • Support students beyond the classroom: Answer homework questions, provide additional writing assistance, and more
  • Collaborate proactively: Work with colleagues to design curriculum, assessment criteria, and instructional practices that promote equitable, innovative learning experiences
  • Engage with the school community: Attend faculty and content team meetings, school assemblies, divisional gatherings, and faith services

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience teaching: Upper School Mandarin courses
  • Educational background: Bachelor’s degree in Mandarin or a related field; Master’s preferred
  • Shared values: Commitment to Sacred Heart Goals and Criteria and supporting girls’ development into confident women
  • Diversity experience: Prior work with diverse student and staff populations, demonstrating culturally responsive pedagogy
  • Whole-child focus: Dedicated to nurturing students academically, emotionally, and socially
  • Effective communication: Able to collaborate with faculty, staff, students, and parents seamlessly

Salary & Benefits 💼

Salary range for this .5 FTE position: $29,514 - $56,265, based on experience and education.
