Saint David's School Is Hiring An Upper Elementary French Teacher
Saint David’s School is hiring a full-time French teacher for a one-year maternity leave position starting September 1, 2026. Join us to inspire students in Grades 5-8 with engaging language instruction! 🇫🇷✨
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated educator to teach French classes for Grades Six through Eight, as well as Introductory Latin for Grades Five and Six. This opportunity offers a dynamic environment for a passionate language instructor.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach French in Grades 5-8 using immersive methodologies
- Deliver Introductory Latin lessons to Grades 5 and 6
- Design lessons incorporating authentic literature, performance assessments, games, songs, and projects
- Utilize Total Physical Response (TPR) techniques to engage multiple learning modalities
- Collaborate with colleagues and the curriculum chair to enhance the FLES program
- Integrate French language instruction across other disciplines
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Experience teaching French with a full immersion approach (targeting 95% of instruction in the target language)
- Proficient in planning creative lessons using authentic resources
- Knowledge of TPR techniques to facilitate retention and engagement
- Collaborative spirit and willingness to innovate within language education
Qualifications & Skills
- Maturity, collegiality, flexibility, and a good sense of humor 😄
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- 3-5 years of teaching experience with Grades 3-8
- BA in Elementary Education or a related field; MA in French or Foreign Language Instruction preferred
- Native fluency in French
- Strong commitment to ongoing professional development
Compensation & Application Process
Salary Range: $70,000 - $121,900 (dependent on experience) 💰
