The Job

Interpreting requires active listening, understanding, and accurately reproducing speech from the source language to the target language. Responsibilities include:

• Interpreting for legal, healthcare, and local government services
• Verifying understanding of non-English speakers after each sentence
• Consecutive, conference, and public service interpreting
• Handling highly confidential information
• Liaising between service users and providers

Candidate Requirements

• Fluent in English and Turkish or other languages
• Must have the right to work in the UK
• Minimum age: 21 years
• Formal qualifications such as:
  • Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (DPSI)
  • Community Interpreting certification
  • Membership with NRPSI, CIOL, ITI (advantages)
  • Degree in Translation, Interpreting, or Languages
  • Additional interpreting-related qualifications
