About the Position

This role involves performing skilled consecutive, first-person interpretation under direct supervision. Work is guided by well-defined policies and procedures, with limited opportunities for independent judgment. The incumbent primarily refers non-routine problems to a supervisor and handles a variety of languages, including but not limited to:

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Interpret Meaning-for-Meaning accurately and efficiently.
  • Adhere to CyraCom's interpreter protocols, training, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with CyraCom policies and uphold interpreter ethics.
  • Attend all required training sessions provided by the CyraCom Quality and Development Department.
  • Enhance vocabulary and specialized subject matter expertise relevant to diverse client needs, such as medical, legal, or social services.
  • Use standard office equipment including telephones, computers, copiers, and fax machines.
  • Operate MS Office applications such as Outlook, Word, and web browsers like Edge.
  • Additional Employee Responsibilities include demonstrating punctuality, following instructions, completing tasks on time, communicating effectively in English and the target language, working independently or collaboratively, and maintaining professional interactions with colleagues and clients.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Fluency in both English and the target language.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in both languages.
  • Basic understanding of linguistics and cultural differences.
  • Capability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances.
  • Calm and effective response in emergency situations.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently with initiative, within company policies.
  • Discretion and strong commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in keeping supervisors informed of issues or problems.
  • Ability to develop and sustain positive work relationships.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook and Word, and familiarity with internet browsers like Internet Explorer or similar.
  • Competence in operating common office equipment such as computers, fax machines, copiers, and telephones.
