Overview

The Translator will provide translation services for individuals facing language barriers. These services will span areas such as Education, Legal, Medical, Environmental, Social Services, and more. All duties will align with the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of Cayuse.

The Work:

Responsibilities

• Accurately translate spoken scenarios such as lectures, conversations, and meetings.
• Utilize technology to transcribe spoken English in various settings.
• Read original documents and translate into the required language.
• Edit translated documents for accuracy and clarity.
• Consider cultural nuances of both original and target languages during translation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications – Here’s What You Need:

• High School diploma, Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years experience in translation/interpretation in Hindi.
• Certified Translation Professional and ATA Certification.
• Additional translation certifications are a plus.
• Experience working with the State Department, refugees, FDA, Health & Human Services, Medical, Legal, Housing Authority, etc.
• Fluent in Hindi.
• Ability to pass a background check (may include additional checks based on project/client requirements).
• Discretion and impartiality in facilitating translations.
• Proficiency in written communication.
• Broad knowledge across various topics.
• Strong social awareness, empathy, and attentiveness for interpretation.
• Cultural sensitivity across different regions.
• Physical stamina and dexterity for extended sessions.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Acrobat).
• Highly motivated, capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Ability to build relationships and work independently or as part of a team.

Reports To:

Deputy Program Manager

Working Conditions:

• Professional remote work environment.
• Must be on-call; notifications within 48 hours for potential jobs.
• Physically and mentally capable of extended work periods.
• Proficient with computers and office productivity tools.
• Capability to establish a productive workspace.
• Ability to sit for long periods, viewing a computer screen.
• Flexibility to work during holidays, outside regular hours, or travel as needed.

Pay Range 💰
