Overview
The Translator will deliver translation services to individuals facing language barriers, supporting diverse fields including education, legal, medical, environmental, and social services. All duties adhere to Cayuse's Mission, Vision, and Core Values.
Responsibilities
- Accurately translate spoken situations like lectures, conversations, and meetings 🎤
- Use technology to transcribe spoken English in select settings 💻
- Read original documents and translate into required languages 📄
- Edit translated versions for accuracy and clarity ✏️
- Be culturally sensitive to the languages involved during translation 🧠
- Perform other duties as assigned 🔄
Qualifications
Here’s what you need to succeed:
- High School Diploma, BA Degree, or equivalent experience 🎓
- 3+ years of translation/interpretation experience in Hindi 🈳
- Certified Translation Professional ✔️
- ATA Certification ✔️
- Relevant translation certifications
- Experience working with State Department, refugees, FDA, health & human services, legal, housing authority, medical sectors, etc.
- Fluency in Hindi 🗣️
- Ability to pass a background check (may include additional checks) 🔍
- Discretion and impartiality in translation 🛡️
- Proficiency in written communication ✍️
- Broad knowledge across various topics 🌐
- Strong social awareness with empathy and attentiveness 💖
- Cultural awareness across regions 🌎
- Physical stamina for extended sessions 🏋️♂️
- Problem-solving skills 🧩
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Acrobat) 📊
- Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively 🎯
- Capable of building relationships both individually and in teams 🤝
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently or collaboratively 🚀
Reporting & Working Conditions
- Reports to: Deputy Program Manager
- Work Environment: Remote, professional setting 🏡
- Availability: On-call, notified within 48 hours of assignments ⏰
- Physical & Mental Requirements: Capable of performing duties over extended periods 💪🧠
- Equipment: Use of computer and productivity tools required 💻
- Workspace: Must establish a productive and professional environment 📝
- Schedule: Flexible, may include holidays and outside usual hours 🕒
- Travel: Possible for business or development purposes ✈️
