Position Overview

The primary aim of this role is to develop and manage both existing and new customer relationships by selling food and non-food items to meet sales and profitability targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer Relationship Ownership: Serve as the primary contact for customer engagement.
  • Sales & Engagement: Sell products and engage customers in value-added activities.
  • Resource Utilization: Leverage internal resources to identify top penetration opportunities and facilitate new account openings.
  • Training & Development: Participate in USF's comprehensive training program for the Territory Manager role. Initially, new hires may be classified as TM Unassigned (E8072) until training completion, after which they are assigned to a territory as TM (E7172).

Main Ingredients of the Job 🧂

  • Customer Relations: Foster and maintain customer relationships within a team-based selling model.
  • Delivery Management: Manage and troubleshoot deliveries according to the transportation schedule, handling issues like delivery errors or stock-outs.
  • Accounts Receivable: Communicate with clients and the credit department to collect payments in accordance with credit terms.
  • Business Development: Identify prospective customers using market intelligence, directories, leads, and industry events.
  • Market & Competitor Knowledge: Stay informed about market conditions, product innovations, and competitors’ offerings; share insights with customers.
  • Travel & Physical Demands: Drive to customer sites and prospects, with the ability to lift/carry up to 75 lbs as needed.

What You Bring to the Table 🎒

  • Minimum one year of sales experience (foodservice industry preferred) or culinary/restaurant management background.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and presentation skills.
  • Valid motor vehicle record in good standing.
  • Strong problem solving and negotiation abilities.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and other computer skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Benefits & Compensation 💰

This role may include benefits such as health insurance, pre-tax accounts, retirement plans, paid time off, disability coverage, stock purchase plans, and life insurance. The initial base salary range is:

$55,000 – $95,000

Compensation is determined based on experience, education, skills, location, and other applicable factors by law.
