We are seeking a dedicated PreK-3 Bilingual Education Teacher with ESL endorsement, preferably fluent in Mandarin or Cantonese, to support our diverse student community. This is a temporary position with a focus on developing language skills and fostering an inclusive learning environment.

Characteristics of the Class

Under the supervision of the school principal, you will be responsible for:

• Instruction and specialized services aimed at enhancing students' ability to perform in courses in English
• Disciplining students within assigned classes
• Performing related duties as needed to support student success and well-being

Essential Functions

Key responsibilities include:

• Instructional Planning 📝: Develop lesson plans aligned with Chicago Public Schools’ policies, Illinois Learning Standards, and legal requirements. Prepare lessons and assessments to evaluate students’ language proficiency and monitor progress.
• Assessment & Evaluation 🔍: Administer language tests, evaluate student progress, and set achievable goals, ensuring equitable participation for all students.
• Instructional Methods 🎓: Implement innovative teaching techniques, utilize diverse instructional materials, and participate in ongoing professional development to improve student learning outcomes.
• Classroom Environment 🌟: Establish positive behavior expectations, maintain accurate records, and promote self-discipline and confidence among students.
• Discipline & Conduct Management 🚸: Promote respectful conduct, enforce rules consistent with district policies, and foster a safe, inclusive school climate.
• Parent & Community Engagement 🤝: Communicate with parents or guardians, provide counseling on academic progress, and collaborate with staff regarding student needs.
• Additional Responsibilities ✨: May coordinate field trips, participate in extracurricular activities, and leverage community resources to enrich learning experiences.

Minimum Qualifications

Education & Experience 🎓

Successfully completed all student teaching requirements and coursework necessary for an Illinois State Board of Education teaching license.

Licensure Requirements 📜

Possession of an Illinois State Board of Education issued educator license with a bilingual endorsement suitable for the grade level being taught.
