Take on a leading role in driving innovative marketing, campaigns, and strategic projects at a top global fashion retailer, with a strong emphasis on bilingual communication and cross-cultural collaboration.

Overview of the Position

The Brand Director will be a vital member of Fast Retailing's Global Creative Lab NY, ensuring the seamless execution of marketing initiatives, projects, and operational responsibilities. Fluency in both Japanese and English is highly preferred to facilitate effective communication and collaboration across international teams.

Essential Functions

  • Project Oversight: Manage all project aspects — set deadlines, assign responsibilities, monitor progress, and prepare status reports for leadership.
  • Strategic Leadership: Lead strategic planning and drive project development in collaboration with the Strategy team and key stakeholders.
  • Team Management: Oversee junior associates, guiding them from proposal stages through asset delivery.
  • Project Planning: Own and manage the master Project Calendar via a Project Management Tool.
  • Workflow & Reporting: Maintain project data entry, reporting, deliverables, and asset management systems.
  • Internal Communication: Serve as the primary day-to-day contact with creative and internal partners, ensuring clear and timely communication.
  • Team Mobilization: Drive the team towards progress, proactive action, and results.
  • Risk & Issue Management: Identify potential project risks and develop contingency plans.
  • Documentation & Communication: Write accurate meeting minutes, reports, memos, and emails, maintaining professionalism and respect.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Keep all stakeholders informed on project developments and ensure mutual understanding.
  • Administrative & Budget Control: Support administrative procedures to meet deadlines and manage project budgets.
  • Flexibility: Adapt to retail schedules and international meetings based on business needs.

  • Build and lead diverse project teams, demonstrating strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

Business Results & Initiative Management

  • Manage campaigns within budgets, timelines, and asset calendars, identifying opportunities for growth.
  • Understand profitability and staffing within GCL, orchestrate multiple projects successfully, and exercise excellent time management.

Strategic Liaison & Internal Relations

  • Partner with marketing leads and communicate proactively with stakeholders.
  • Manage client expectations and possess a thorough understanding of marketing’s role in business.

People Development & Managerial Skills

  • Earn trust within your team, understand staffing needs, and work cross-functionally with other leaders.
  • Become the day-to-day go-to person for creative teams, establishing trusted partnerships.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years in marketing, project management, or account management — experience in a creative agency or in-house department preferred.
  • BA in Marketing or a related field highly preferred.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with good numerical ability and independence.
  • Confident, dynamic personality with a problem-solving mindset.
  • Knowledge of the apparel industry, fashion trends, and advertising production processes.
  • Proficiency in Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, project management software, and creating polished presentations.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and objectivity.
  • Business-level Japanese language skills are considered an asset.
  • Willing and able to travel internationally for meetings and productions.
