Overview

As a telephonic interpreter specializing in Vietnamese within LSA's network of Independent Contractors, you'll handle on-demand phone calls, assisting the Limited English Proficient (LEP) community across medical, legal, and customer service settings. Language Services Associates is constantly expanding and welcoming qualified interpreters like you!

Responsibilities

• Provide effective remote telephonic interpreting 📞
• Answer inbound calls promptly and efficiently 🕒
• Deliver exceptional customer service 🤝
• Maintain strict confidentiality per the Code of Professional Conduct 🔒
• Follow all policies, including interpretation protocols and industry-specific best practices 📋
• Complete required training and participate in ongoing quality assurance activities 🎓

Qualifications & Experience

• Full bilingual fluency in English and Vietnamese 🌐
• Proficiency with technology — web-based platforms, email, Microsoft Word 💻
• Access to a landline phone for quality sound 📴
• Quiet, secure interpreting environment free from external noises 🔇
• At least 2 years of professional interpreting experience (preferred) 🧑‍⚕️📝
• Industry-specific certifications or training (e.g., CMI, CCHI) (preferred) 🎓
• Proof of 40+ hours of medical interpreting training (e.g., Bridging the Gap, Cross-Cultural) (preferred) 📂
