📌 About the Role

The Red Hat Localization team is seeking an experienced Technical Translator with fluency in Mandarin to work remotely from Australia. Your focus will be on translating, reviewing, and ensuring the quality of our software user interfaces and documentation, enabling our customers worldwide to leverage Red Hat's innovative technologies.

Collaboration is key—work closely with subject matter experts across different regions, including Japan, alongside other talented translators in your language area.

📝 Key Responsibilities

• Post-edit machine translations of technical content into Mandarin, including software manuals and knowledgebase articles
• Translate software user interfaces to ensure clarity and accuracy
• Collaborate with fellow translators to maintain consistency and quality
• Coordinate with technical writers, software engineers, and subject-matter experts to refine translations
• Utilize user feedback from Japanese technical documentation to optimize translation quality, serving both customers and internal teams

🔧 What You Bring to the Table

• Professional or advanced translation skills with strong writing abilities in Mandarin
• High proficiency in Bash scripting—essential for this role
• Knowledge of Python (desirable) and Perl (nice-to-have)
• Some ability in Japanese translation and writing skills (average or beginner level) are a plus
• Strong teamwork skills for collaborating with a global, cross-functional team
• Ability to research IT topics to ensure accurate, high-quality translations
• Experience in localizing software UI and documentation from English to Mandarin (preferred)
• Familiarity with translation management systems and Machine Translation / Large Language Models (MT/LLM) (advantageous)
• Engineering experience is a bonus
