Position Overview
Reports To: Campus Principal
Work Year Days: 184 days
Primary Purpose
Provide students with engaging learning activities and experiences in your assigned academic subject area to help them reach their full potential—intellectually, emotionally, physically, and socially. Enable students to develop essential skills and competencies for success in society. 🎯
Qualifications
Education and Certification 📜
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for the assigned subject and level
- Proven competency in the academic subject area
Special Knowledge and Skills 🧠
- Knowledge of the assigned academic subject
- General understanding of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to instruct students effectively and manage classroom behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Instructional Strategies 📝
- Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with district curriculum, with documented evidence of preparation
- Design lessons accommodating diverse student learning styles
- Deliver subject matter following TEA guidelines, board policies, and administrative regulations
- Use appropriate strategies, activities, materials, and technology to meet student needs
- Assess student learning styles and utilize results to inform instruction
- Collaborate with special education staff to modify curricula based on Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
- Coordinate with staff to establish instructional goals and methods as per district standards
- Supervise and plan assignments for teacher aides and volunteers
- Integrate technology to enhance the teaching and learning experience
Student Growth and Development 🌱
- Assist students in improving study habits and methods
- Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal methods
- Participate in extracurricular activities and serve as a sponsor when assigned
- Serve as a positive role model and support the mission of the district
Classroom Management and Organization 🏫
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and development
- Enforce student behavior policies according to the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook
- Implement necessary precautions to ensure safety of students, resources, and facilities
Communication Skills 📞
- Maintain open communication through conferences with parents, students, and staff
- Build and sustain professional relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and the community
- Communicate information clearly and effectively
Professional Growth and Development 📚
- Participate in staff development activities to enhance skills
- Stay informed of and adhere to state, district, and school policies
- Maintain accurate reports, records, and documentation
- Attend faculty meetings and contribute to staff committees as required
