Job Overview
The Target Language Interventionist provides in-class, small-group, and one-on-one support to students learning French or Spanish. This role aims to increase ACTFL proficiency through immersive, language-rich instruction and targeted intervention aligned with classroom instruction and MTSS structures.
Key Responsibilities
- 🎯 Deliver targeted language intervention to support listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills
- 🌟 Use immersive strategies (visuals, gestures, contextual learning) to build comprehension and confidence
- 🤝 Collaborate with classroom teachers, coaches, and specialists to align intervention with core instruction
- 📝 Use formative and summative assessments to design and monitor intervention cycles
- 🌍 Support Units of Inquiry and integrate PYP language and practices
- 📞 Communicate regularly with families regarding language progress and goals
- 🗃️ Maintain organized records, data tracking, and required documentation
- 🧑💻 Participate in schoolwide routines, meetings, and professional development
Qualifications
- 🎓 Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood, Elementary Education, or related field
- 🗣️ Fluency in English and French or English and Spanish (required)
- 📚 Elementary world language teaching experience preferred
- 🔍 Strong collaboration, communication, and data-driven instruction skills
- 🌈 Commitment to equity, inclusion, and student-centered learning
