Senior Manager, Labor Relations – Owensboro, KY
As a vital leader in our organization, the Senior Manager of Labor Relations will drive strategic initiatives, build strong union relationships, and foster a high-performance, employee-centric culture across the U.S.
🚀 Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Strategic Labor Relations Leadership
- Develop and execute national labor relations strategies aligned with our business goals.
- Serve as the main liaison with union representatives and labor counsel to promote constructive relationships.
- Lead collective bargaining negotiations and contract renewals across multiple unions and locations, including proposal development and stakeholder coordination.
- Support organizational change initiatives with a labor relations perspective to mitigate risk and ensure alignment with union agreements.
Union & Employee Relations
- Guide site leadership and People & Culture teams on grievance procedures, arbitration, and disciplinary actions.
- Monitor labor trends, union activities, and employee sentiment to identify risks and recommend proactive strategies.
- Promote positive employee relations and engagement strategies.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local labor laws (e.g., NLRA, FMLA, FLSA).
- Conduct internal audits and investigations related to labor practices; resolve complex grievances in line with CBAs and legal standards.
- Mitigate labor-related risks through training, policy development, and early interventions.
Collaboration & Influence
- Partner with business functions, Legal, and People & Culture leadership to align labor strategies with corporate objectives.
- Provide systemic training and coaching to leaders on labor relations best practices and CBA application.
- Represent PMI in arbitration, mediation, legal proceedings, and regulatory matters related to labor.
🧑💼 Who We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Industrial Relations, or a related field; Master’s or JD preferred.
- 7-10+ years of progressive labor relations experience, including union negotiations and grievance handling, preferably in large-scale manufacturing in the U.S.
- Strong knowledge of labor laws, collective bargaining, and dispute resolution techniques.
- Exceptional negotiation, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive issues with professionalism and discretion.
- Willingness to travel up to 40% domestically.
⭐ Nice to Have
- Industry experience in CPG or fast-paced, high-volume environments.
- Certification in Labor Relations or HR (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR).
- Experience with HRIS and case management systems.
- Bilingual or multilingual capabilities (if relevant).
