About the Team 🤝

The Platform Threat Intelligence team ensures the security and integrity of College Board systems by assessing adversaries and translating insights into defensive actions. Our focus is on adversary objectives and behaviors related to our platform, collaborating closely with engineering and operational teams to enhance resilience, detection, and decision-making.

We produce high-confidence assessments of threat patterns and operational trends, effectively communicating findings to prioritize actions. Our cross-functional collaborations involve data and engineering partners to improve visibility, coverage, and security reporting.

Language Skills 💬

Proficiency in Mandarin—speaking, reading, and writing (Traditional and/or Simplified Chinese)—is strongly preferred. Knowledge of Vietnamese is a plus.

About the Opportunity 🌟

In this role, you'll transform adversary tactics and malware insights into measurable improvements that bolster platform trust. You'll collaborate with Data Science, engineering, and operational stakeholders to develop analytics, reporting, and detection enhancements based on internal signals and investigations.

Key Responsibilities

Intelligence-to-Action Translation ⚙️

  • Convert intelligence and stakeholder questions into well-defined analytical efforts and decision-ready outputs.

Detection & Measurement 🔍

  • Identify and monitor significant behavioral patterns in security signals to enhance detection quality and operational results.

Reporting & Decision Support 📊

  • Create concise reports, recurring updates, and detailed analyses to support prioritization and leadership visibility.

Cross-functional Execution 🔄

  • Collaborate across engineering, data, and operational teams to integrate insights into workflows and ensure follow-through.

Maintain adherence to established information protection practices for sensitive materials, ensuring all work aligns with policies and standards. Clear documentation is essential for support of decisions and repeatability.

You Will Be Focused On: 🧠

Threat Intelligence & Analysis (70%)

  • Gather, curate, and analyze actionable threat intelligence — including malware design trends and adversary capabilities related to College Board services — translating findings into risk insights and priorities.
  • Assess adversary behaviors to identify investigative opportunities.
  • Maintain structured threat tracking and produce technical and non-technical assessments.
  • Partner with engineering teams to translate findings into security requirements.
  • Support investigations with insightful analysis for operational decision-making.

Collaboration & Operational Excellence 🔧

  • Act as a cross-functional partner across engineering, data, and operations, fostering strong relationships.
  • Communicate effectively through written reports and collaborative discussions.
  • Contribute to workflows, documentation standards, and quality improvements.
  • Ensure safe handling and compliance with sensitive information policies.

Applied Defensive Support (30%) 🎯

  • Enhance the quality of security signals and analytic outputs to improve detection and measurement efforts.
  • Support technical validation of hypotheses to aid faster remediation, following policy-aligned approaches.

About You: ✨

  • 5-8 years of experience in threat intelligence, security engineering, security research, or related fields, with demonstrated expertise in Windows malware analysis.
  • Proficiency in Python and at least one additional programming language for automation or prototyping.
  • Experience analyzing adversary behaviors and tools using industry-standard techniques.
  • Strong understanding of operating systems, networking, and attacker tradecraft, with the ability to clearly explain technical findings.
  • Experience creating clear intelligence reports for diverse audiences.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within ambiguous environments spanning engineering and operational teams.
  • Commitment to secure handling of sensitive materials and ethical conduct.
  • Understanding regional communication norms and online ecosystems relevant to threat research (e.g., social platforms, forums, media).
  • Language proficiency: Mandarin required; Vietnamese a plus.
  • Willingness to travel periodically for operational needs.
