Job Description: Localization Specialist

We are seeking a dedicated Localization Specialist to support our marketing, promotional, consumer service, and other content by translating, adapting, and editing materials into target languages. Your work will ensure timely publications aligned with editorial calendars while maintaining Nintendo’s brand tone and cultural relevance. 🚀

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, translate, adapt, and edit moderately complex materials across different formats to support products and services, ensuring timely delivery.
  • Propose solutions for cultural and creative challenges in localization efforts, managing stakeholder feedback and priorities.
  • Inform management promptly of schedule challenges, changes, or delays.
  • Assist in planning and scheduling, providing input where needed.
  • Use pre-production software/hardware to understand products and services supported by your translations.
  • Review all human and machine translations for accuracy, consistency, and brand tone, including outsourced content.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to use or improve machine translation tools.
  • Stay informed about regional trends, industry standards, and consumer expectations, sharing insights with teams.
  • Collaborate with localization teams to develop shared glossaries of terminology.
  • Address culturalization topics, identifying issues and proposing inclusive solutions.
  • Translate content for other departments and subsidiaries as needed.
  • Innovate and improve translation and localization workflows.
  • Provide feedback on translation tools like machine translation systems.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years experience in localization.
  • Deep understanding of global localization issues and market preferences.
  • Experience in translation, copywriting, or copyediting.
  • Thorough knowledge of Nintendo franchises, products, and history.
  • Familiarity with the video game industry across console, PC, and mobile markets.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and adaptable to proprietary software.
  • Valid passport required.
  • Native fluency in Portuguese OR Spanish.
  • Educational background: Degree in the target language, Linguistics, Translation, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Bi-lingual expertise: Proven experience translating, writing, and editing in target language.
  • Knowledge of Latin American/Brazilian Portuguese culture, customs, and market preferences.
  • Experience with CAT tools (Translation Memory, Machine Translation, Content Management) preferred.
  • Proficiency in operating Microsoft Windows and Office in Spanish/Portuguese.

Additional Information

Applicants must be legally eligible to work in the United States — visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

This position is hybrid, based in Redmond, WA. Regular onsite work following division schedules is required; remote-only options are not available at this time.
