🔍 Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, translate, adapt, and edit marketing, promotional, consumer service, and other materials into target languages, ensuring timely publication aligned with editorial schedules.
  • Address cultural and creative challenges by proposing localization strategies that respect regional nuances and stakeholder priorities.
  • Communicate schedule updates regarding potential delays, changes, or challenges to management proactively.
  • Assist in planning and scheduling activities for localization projects as needed.
  • Deepen product understanding by playing or using pre-production hardware/software related to supported content.
  • Ensure translation accuracy and consistency across human and machine outputs, including outsourced content, maintaining brand tone.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize machine translation and automation tools.
  • Stay informed about regional trends within the gaming industry and consumer preferences, providing insights to relevant teams.
  • Coordinate localization terminologies by maintaining shared glossaries with localization staff.
  • Address culturalization topics proactively, proposing inclusive and culturally appropriate content solutions.
  • Perform translations for other departments and subsidiaries as required.
  • Drive process efficiencies in translation, adaptation, and editing workflows.
  • Provide feedback on machine translation tools and other localization technologies.

🎯 Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of four years of localization experience.
  • Strong understanding of global localization issues and market preferences.
  • Translation, copywriting, and editing experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of Nintendo franchises, products, and history.
  • Familiarity with the video game industry across console, PC, and mobile markets.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and adaptability to complex proprietary software.
  • Valid passport required.
  • Native fluency in Portuguese.
  • Undergraduate degree in relevant language, Linguistics, Translation, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Portuguese and English (both written and spoken).

🌎 Additional Preferred Skills

  • Experience translating, writing, and editing in target language.
  • Knowledge of US and Latin American/Brazilian Portuguese translation issues and market preferences.
  • Understanding of Latin American/Brazilian Portuguese culture, customs, and business protocols.
  • Experience with localization/CAT tools such as translation memory, machine translation, and content management systems.
  • Comfort operating Microsoft Windows and Office software in Portuguese.

📝 Additional Details

  • Applicants must be legally eligible to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is unavailable.
  • This position is hybrid, based in Redmond, WA. Regular onsite work following division guidelines is required.
  • Compensation ranges from $32.45 to $51.92 per hour, including potential performance bonuses and comprehensive benefits such as medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and paid time off.
