🏢 Location & Work Environment
This role is based in Redmond, WA. It is a hybrid position requiring regular onsite work according to division guidelines. Please note, this position is not available for fully remote candidates.
🛠️ Key Responsibilities
- Translate and interpret: Convert written and spoken communications (emails, technical and game design documents, presentations) while providing cultural context.
- Support the Business Team: Assist the 2nd party business team review game proposals, build and maintain relationships with global independent studios, and understand industry trends and culture.
- Language and cultural accuracy: Select expressions in the target language that best convey the original meaning (congruity judgment).
- Manage tools and databases: Maintain and improve usability and efficiency of various tools and data repositories.
- Provide interpretation services: Support multi-party conference calls (up to three hours), often with short notice.
- Assist team operations: Contribute to scheduling, planning, preparation of materials, and support internal workflows.
- Prepare and stay informed: Review briefings, read materials, and study subject matter before interpreting sessions.
- Ensure compliance: Follow corporate security policies, guidelines, and procedures diligently.
- Customer service & mentorship: Provide excellent support to internal and external contacts and serve as an informal resource for less experienced team members.
- Lead discussions: Manage daily workflows and facilitate team meetings to promote collaboration.
📝 Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: 4–5 years in related roles, with interpretation experience strongly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office applications at an intermediate to high level.
- Cultural Knowledge: Deep understanding of Japanese business customs and etiquette.
- Industry Knowledge: Extensive familiarity with video game software/hardware and industry trends is highly advantageous.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written skills, with ability to build relationships and solve problems effectively.
- Multi-tasking & Confidentiality: Capable of managing fluctuating priorities while maintaining confidentiality.
- Travel: A valid passport may be required for international travel.
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Language, Communication, Business, or related fields.
- Language Proficiency: Native-level fluency in English and Japanese, both verbal and written.

💼 Compensation & Benefits
Hourly pay ranges from $38.27 to $61.25. The role includes a potential semi-annual performance bonus and a comprehensive benefits package comprising:
