Job Description
As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide comprehensive off-site support to patients, pharmacists, and providers, ensuring smooth medication management and patient adherence. Your role will be instrumental in delivering "legendary" care and expanding our pharmacy services.
Key Responsibilities
- Patient Support & Medication Management: Work closely with patients to promote medication adherence, handle all medication needs, and ensure they stay on track with their regimens.
- Off-site Clinic Support: Serve as an off-site member of the clinic team by managing prior authorizations, financial assistance, and medication inquiries.
- Patient Education & Engagement: Educate prospective pharmacy patients about hospital pharmacy services and assist with prescription renewals.
- Insurance & Financial Assistance: Resolve insurance issues, complete benefit investigations, and review patients’ financial needs to secure assistance when necessary.
- Documentation & Compliance: Document patient information within hospital EMR and adhere to confidentiality standards.
- Special Storage & Handling: Identify medications requiring special storage conditions and ensure proper handling.
- Inquiries & Communication: Answer, resolve, and triage inbound calls and inquiries, engaging proactively with patients, clinicians, payors, and pharmacies.
- Operational & Process Improvement: Input data, prepare follow-up plans, participate in process improvement initiatives, and meet operational objectives.
- Knowledge & Professional Development: Stay updated through educational opportunities and industry publications.
- Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned to support team objectives.
Requirements
- Experience: Required 2-3 years, Preferred 3-5 years’ experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
- Licensing & Certification: State registration as a pharmacy technician preferred; Nationally certified as a CPhT or equivalent strongly preferred but not mandatory.
- Skills: Strong interpersonal and phone communication skills, proactive patient engagement, and ability to reach out telephonically to clinicians, payors, and pharmacies.
- Technical Proficiency: Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel and Word), with quick adaptability to other programs and Shields’ tools.
- Organizational Skills: Excellent organization and time management capabilities.
