The mission of WSFSSH is to provide safe, affordable senior housing that combines compassionate property management with supportive services to promote independence and dignity for each resident. We aim to create and sustain healthy, vibrant neighborhoods.

Position Overview

The Social Worker I will work autonomously, cultivating strong 1:1 relationships with residents to deliver comprehensive social services that support safe, independent living within our community. This role is vital in helping residents access resources and maintain quality of life.

Support for Licensed Social Workers

We encourage M.S.W. level social workers to obtain their licensure. We offer:

  • Study groups for exam preparation.
  • Payment for up to 2 licensing exams and registration fees.
  • Coverage for CEU credits post-LMSW certification.
  • Weekly clinical supervision with an LCSW.
  • Pathway to LCSW via supervised work experience, with costs covered by WSFSSH.

Our support continues after licensure, covering testing, licensing fees, and CEUs to maintain your clinical license.

Key Responsibilities 🎯

  • Assist residents with:
    • Accessing medical, mental health, and home care services
    • Establishing and maintaining social and family relationships
    • Managing budgets and income for rent payments
    • Money management
  • Provide crisis intervention, appointment escorts, and individual counseling.
  • Facilitate socialization activities via in-house and community referrals.
  • Follow up on hospitalizations and rehab stays.
  • Oversee discharge planning and complete necessary paperwork.
  • Lead group sessions—recreational, educational, or clinical.
  • Participate in intake assessments of new residents.
  • Communicate resident progress and needs while respecting confidentiality.
  • Complete incident reports as required.
  • Maintain case records, including notes, support plans, and psychosocial histories.
  • Implement emergency procedures and attend team meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned to support our community’s well-being.

Qualifications & Skills ⭐

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organization, time management, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Genuine interest in supporting an aging population.

Educational & Professional Requirements 📚

  • MSW or MA in a human services field with at least two years of social work experience.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and bilingual in Spanish is required.
  • Experience working with older adults and individuals with mental health or substance use issues is preferred.

Physical Requirements 💪

This role may involve physical demands, including but not limited to prolonged sitting, standing, and extensive computer use. Candidates must be able to stand for extended periods.
