The Consulate General of Israel in Los Angeles is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Social Media Director to lead our digital outreach and engagement efforts in the vibrant Pacific Southwest region.

Our mission is to strengthen U.S.-Israel relations by promoting mutual understanding and shared values through diplomatic, cultural, and public engagement.

Role Overview 🚀

The Social Media Director is a key member of our Public Diplomacy team, acting as the bridge between the Consulate and the digital world. You'll be responsible for developing and executing a strategic social media presence that aligns with our mission and values across all platforms. This dynamic role demands creativity, precision, and a strong ability to manage diverse communications, engage with influencers, and reach target audiences. You'll also have the unique opportunity to gain international experience and impact public diplomacy with innovative social media strategies.

Key Responsibilities 🎯

  • Develop and implement comprehensive social media strategies, including posts, captions, reels, clips, and other engaging content formats.
  • Build and maintain relationships with social media influencers, content creators, and relevant organizations.
  • Monitor social media platforms to track engagement, sentiment, and emerging trends.
  • Create and edit original content, such as photography, videography, and graphic design.
  • Organize and manage public diplomacy events like interviews, campaigns, briefings, and collaborations.
  • Manage inquiries from the public, press, and organizations received via social media channels.
  • Lead crisis communication efforts on social media, ensuring timely and appropriate messaging.

Required Skills and Qualifications 🎓

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Media, Marketing, Political Science, or Social Sciences.
  • Native English speaker; proficiency in Hebrew and/or Spanish is a strong advantage.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for building productive relationships.
  • Deep understanding of national political landscapes and current events.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management abilities.
  • Flexibility to work according to Israel’s timezone and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to work overtime, evenings, and weekends as needed.
  • Creative thinker with initiative, able to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficiency in graphic design and video editing software (highly desirable).
  • Strategic mindset to plan and execute successful public diplomacy campaigns.

Preferred Experience 💼

  • Experience with international organizations or in communications and promotions.
  • Proven track record in social media management and paid marketing.
  • Established network of influencer contacts and content creators.
  • Fluency in Spanish, both written and spoken.
