Position Overview
Senior Oncology Sales Specialist – Italy Shaping the Future of Oncology Through Innovation, Insight, and Partnership
We are seeking a highly motivated professional to join our Southern Europe Commercial team. This **field-based role** focuses on driving growth within our oncology product portfolio across Italy, serving as both a trusted advisor and technical expert in molecular diagnostics, translational research, and clinical oncology. Collaborating closely with Account Managers, Channel Partners, and cross-functional teams, you will support strategic account development, influence key stakeholders, and promote the adoption of Illumina’s cutting-edge oncology solutions.
This is an exceptional opportunity for experienced oncology sales professionals eager to advance precision oncology and support healthcare providers and researchers in their fight against cancer.
Location & Travel
This role is **field-based**, with candidates ideally situated in Milan, Rome, or another location enabling efficient coverage of Italy. Expect to travel approximately 60% within Italy and occasionally to Slovenia, Croatia, and Greece.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive Market Growth: Achieve sales targets, acquire new accounts, grow existing relationships, and position Illumina as the preferred partner.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement a business plan aimed at early adopters, strategic laboratories, and clinical accounts.
- Customer Engagement: Cultivate strong relationships with oncologists, molecular pathologists, lab directors, and KOLs.
- Sales Collaboration: Partner with Account Managers, Sales Specialists, and Channel Partners to identify opportunities and close deals.
- Technical Expertise: Present complex oncology workflows (NGS, liquid biopsy, companion diagnostics, biomarkers) confidently to diverse stakeholders.
- Training & Enablement: Support and educate teams and customers through resources, updates, and impactful presentations.
- Pipeline Development: Manage a pipeline of oncology opportunities and deliver accurate forecasts using CRM tools.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Contribute to strategic projects across Marketing, Medical Affairs, Patient Advocacy, Market Access, and Government Affairs.
- Voice of Customer: Share insights to inform product development and marketing strategies.
- Brand Ambassador: Represent Illumina at oncology congresses, trade shows, and conferences within Italy and Southern Europe.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required; MSc or PhD in Life Sciences, Medicine, or related field preferred.
- Experience:
- Proven success in oncology sales and account development.
- Strong technical knowledge of oncology workflows, including genomics and NGS.
- Skills: Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills; strategic mindset; ability to network effectively and build long-term KOL relationships.
- Languages: Fluent in Italian and English.
- Travel: Willing to travel ~60% primarily within Italy and occasionally to neighboring countries.
