Our client, an esteemed Am Law firm, is seeking an Experienced General Counsel, Senior In-House Counsel, or Corporate Counsel who is fluent in Japanese (speaking, reading, and writing). This position offers a unique opportunity to join a global law firm and contribute across diverse practice areas, including:

The partner overseeing this role is open to training the right candidate who demonstrates flexibility, professionalism, and a commitment to a long-term engagement.

Position Details

• Location: Remote (must reside and be licensed in a state with a firm office: California, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, or Washington)
• Start Date: ASAP
• Duration: Open-ended, with potential transition to a direct-hire Special Project Lawyer (SPL2) role within the firm
• Concurrent Employment: Not permitted
• Hours: 40 hours per week
• Pay Range: $90 - $113 per hour, depending on experience

Qualifications

• Active bar license: In good standing in the jurisdiction where you reside (CA, DC, DE, FL, IL, MA, MO, NC, NJ, NY, OR, PA, SC, TN, TX, WA)
• Japanese fluency: Speaking, reading, and writing required
• Legal experience: Prior recent experience as General Counsel, Senior In-House Counsel, or Corporate Counsel (preferably in-house)
• Client-facing skills: Comfortable working directly with partners and clients
• Adaptability: Capable of supporting multiple practice groups
• Long-term interest: Interested in a stable opportunity with room for growth
• Japanese writing sample: Preferred (ALTA scores accepted if unavailable). Candidates should submit Japanese ALTA exam scores if available, or be willing to take the exam.
