Position Overview

We are launching Focus, a new service within Crimson aimed at developing students' executive function and leadership skills—critical traits for academic, extracurricular, and personal success. This program prepares students to engage effectively with other Crimson services such as research, test preparation, competitions, and capstone projects.

We are looking for experienced coaches to work with high-achieving students (grades 8-10), fostering leadership and executive skills aligned with the MIT Human Skills Matrix. This flexible, contract/hourly role involves delivering structured coaching, tracking progress, and supporting students in building practical skills that impress top colleges and employers. 📈

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct weekly 1:1 coaching sessions focusing on self-management, interaction, thinking, and leadership
  • Assess student needs across 18 key skill areas, designing tailored 10, 20, or 30-week development plans
  • Monitor progress through weekly tasks, milestone projects, and assessments
  • Utilize resources provided, while staying adaptable to new practices and tools
  • Collaborate with other team members: Execution Mentor, Strategist, and Student Success Manager
  • Support long-term habit formation for academic and professional success
  • Help build character and emotional intelligence such as resilience, initiative, empathy, and curiosity

Required Qualifications

  • PhD or Master’s degree in coaching/counseling from an accredited institution
  • Clinical or formal experience working with youth
  • Proven success working with students/young people
  • Fluency in Mandarin and English

Preferred Qualifications

  • Leadership experience in public or private sectors
  • Background in executive function coaching or leadership development
  • Knowledge of current college admissions trends
  • Experience working with international students
  • Familiarity with assessment frameworks and progress tracking
