We are seeking a passionate and experienced leader to oversee the day-to-day operations and educational excellence of our vibrant Early Childhood Center and Elementary School. This fulltime, salaried exempt position offers the opportunity to shape the future of young learners in a dynamic community-focused environment.
Position Overview 🏫
The Senior Director of Learning serves as the face of both the Early Childhood Center and Elementary School, responsible for leading daily operations and acting as the primary administrative contact for faculty, students, and parents. As a member of the Senior Professional Staff at Jewish for Good, you will oversee strategic and tactical aspects of your division, reporting directly to the CEO. You will supervise key leadership roles including the Director of ECLC Administration, Director of ECLC Programming, Early Childhood Ambassador, Elementary Executive Manager, Elementary Dean of Students, and Elementary Grade Level Leads.
Principal Responsibilities 🎯
Build and Support Faculty 🤝
- Assign, supervise, mentor, evaluate, and recruit faculty and staff for Lerner Elementary School and in partnership with ECLC Directors.
- Plan and facilitate annual faculty meetings and professional development sessions.
- Foster a culture of autonomy, accountability, and trust while ensuring compliance with early learning and state academic standards.
- Set a positive tone for the school, promoting camaraderie, professionalism, and a culture of hakarat hatov (recognizing the good).
Create an Environment for Learning and Growth 🌱
- Elementary School: Design, evaluate, and update curricula, textbooks, and educational resources across core subjects, Judaic, Hebrew, Visual Arts, Music, and Physical Education. Monitor implementation and student progress.
- Early Childhood Center: Develop broad themes for monthly infusion across age levels to facilitate hands-on, experiential learning.
- Across Programs: Develop the school year calendar, coordinate school-wide programs and events, and support differentiated instruction tailored to individual student needs.
- Support positive behavior and classroom management through team support, direct interventions, and facilitating parent meetings when necessary.
Establish a Robust School Community 🌍
- Represent and promote the school’s mission to prospective families, students, and the wider community.
- Proactively recruit and engage families within a one-hour radius; manage re-enrollment and admissions processes in collaboration with leadership.
- Serve as a key staff liaison with organizations such as the Learning Committee.
- Oversee the learning division's budget, working with the CEO on tuition, salaries, and expenses.
- Drive communication efforts via weekly newsletters, Brightwheel updates, and social media to foster community engagement.
- Manage accreditation processes (SAIS) and state reporting requirements.
- Participate actively in leadership teams and committees to advance school initiatives.
Ensure Operational Excellence ⚙️
- Manage financial and operational aspects, including budgeting and resource allocation.
- Maintain ongoing communication with families and stakeholders.
- Lead and oversee the school's accreditation and compliance activities.
- Contribute to leadership team initiatives promoting continuous improvement and excellence.
Minimum Qualifications ✅
- Legal eligibility to work in the United States.
- Master's Degree in Education or a related field.
- Eight (8) or more years of experience in elementary and/or early childhood education, with supervisory or leadership responsibilities.
- Experience teaching and supporting curriculum development across elementary and early childhood levels.
- Flexibility to meet demands beyond school hours when needed.
- Proficiency with Responsive Classroom, Conscious Discipline, and differentiated instruction.
- Strong commitment to professional growth, child development, and creating optimal learning environments.
- Exceptional communication skills—written, verbal, and non-verbal—demonstrating compassion and empathy.
- Positive attitude, good judgment, innovative problem-solving skills, and integrity.
Salary Range 💰
The annual salary for this position ranges from $75,000 to $85,000.
