UNDP is seeking a dedicated Security Guard to provide vital security services in Gaza, supporting our mission to promote peace, stability, and sustainable development for the Palestinian people. Specifically, our Programme of Assistance to the Palestinian People (PAPP) focuses on improving socio-economic conditions, fostering resilience, and supporting crisis response efforts, particularly in Gaza amidst ongoing conflict and humanitarian needs.
Our strategic framework for 2023-2025 emphasizes "Transformative Resilience" with priorities in democratic governance, inclusive economic growth, and sustainable natural resource management. We are presently responding with an emergency programme to address urgent needs in Gaza, including access to water, shelter, economic support, and community cohesion.
Role Overview 🛡️
The Security Guard plays a crucial role in ensuring a safe and secure environment for UNDP personnel, visitors, and assets. Under the guidance of the Head of Gaza Office and directly supervised by the Field Security Specialist, the guard will uphold the highest standards of discretion, integrity, and professionalism in security operations.
Key Duties & Responsibilities 🔑
- Premises Security: Provide security at entry points, monitor CCTV, conduct patrols, and oversee alarm systems to prevent unauthorized access and safeguard UNDP property.
- Access Control & Visitor Management: Verify identities, issue visitor IDs, escort visitors, and manage mail and vehicle movements ensuring security protocols are followed.
- Emergency Response & Safety: Respond swiftly to incidents, assist with fire prevention, medical emergencies, and evacuations, maintaining readiness for rapid action.
- Reporting & Communication: Maintain incident logs, report irregularities immediately, ensure effective shift handovers, and communicate security updates.
- Transportation Services: Provide safe transportation for staff and visitors, inspect vehicles, and undertake minor maintenance tasks as needed.

Qualifications & Experience 🎓
- Education: Secondary Education required.
- Experience: Knowledge of Windows and MS Office; ability to manage security systems including CCTV, access control, and fire alarms.
- Assets: Prior experience with international organizations or embassies, technical protection equipment, UN experience, and driving proficiency are highly desirable.
Language & Certifications 📝
- Fluency in Arabic is mandatory; working knowledge of English is required.
- Knowledge of Hebrew is an asset.
- Valid driving license is required.
