Job Details & Responsibilities 📝

Under the guidance of the school principal and department head, the successful candidate will:

  • Guide the educational process to achieve district curriculum goals for French as a World Language (5-12).
  • Plan and deliver high-quality, standards-based lessons tailored to diverse learners using modern educational practices.
  • Manage a structured classroom to maximize learning and support positive student behavior.
  • Assess students in accordance with school practices and communicate progress with students and parents.

Qualifications & Competencies 🎓

  • Valid Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education license in Foreign Language - World Language 5-12
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university; Master’s Degree preferred
  • SEI Endorsement
  • Knowledge of current education legislation and regulations
  • Ability to work effectively with teachers, support staff, parents, and stakeholders
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Experience in an urban district/setting preferred
  • Ability to meet Massachusetts Standards and Indicators of Effective Teaching Practice

Performance Responsibilities 🚀

  • Design and implement engaging, standards-based lessons with clear objectives
  • Provide inclusive learning experiences for students from varied socio-economic and cultural backgrounds
  • Differentiate instruction to meet individual needs, including modifications for special education and English learners
  • Utilize formal and informal assessments to monitor student progress and adapt instruction accordingly
  • Create a safe, motivating, and supportive classroom environment
  • Modify lessons for small groups or remedial instruction as needed
  • Build positive relationships with students and colleagues to foster effective teaching and learning
  • Maintain a growth mindset and uphold standards of student behavior
  • Participate in school-wide and department professional development activities
  • Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, assessments, and lesson planning
  • Utilize digital tools and technology to enhance student learning both in and out of the classroom

Terms of Employment & Benefits 💼

Employment is negotiated with the Lynn School Committee and Lynn Teachers Union, with a 180-day academic year. Salary estimates are available through our Teacher Salary Estimator.

The City of Lynn offers comprehensive health and dental benefits, including Harvard Pilgrim PPO/HMO plans, Altus Dental, and Vision. Voluntary life insurance, FSA, short-term, and long-term disability plans are also available.

Note: Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of pre-employment physical, drug testing, fingerprinting, and background checks, all prior to starting.
