About the Role

As a Russian Linguist at Leidos, you'll perform a broad range of complex linguistic tasks with cultural insight, supporting critical national security operations. Leidos will sponsor and upgrade security clearances for eligible candidates.

Key Responsibilities 📝

• Translation:
  • Accurately translate materials (digital and hard copy) from Russian/Ukrainian into English and vice versa.
  • Capture subtle nuances, cultural references, and abstract concepts with contextual accuracy.
  • Effectively interpret geopolitical, regional, ethnic, and cultural references.
  • Maintain terminology and expressions consistent with subject matter norms.
• Interpretation:
  • Provide consecutive interpretation; occasional simultaneous interpretation may be required.
  • Ensure high fidelity and fluency, understanding regional dialects and cultural contexts.
• Transcription:
  • Transcribe audio or internet-based content accurately and efficiently.
  • Produce high-quality English reports from audio/visual materials.
  • Demonstrate understanding of dialectical variations.
• Gisting & Summarization:
  • Identify and summarize key facts and abstract concepts accurately.
  • Prioritize critical data from large datasets.
  • Use reference materials to ensure quality output.

What You Bring to the Table 🎯

• No clearance required to apply.
• Willing to obtain a TS/SCI clearance with polygraph (must be fully adjudicated before employment). Leidos sponsors candidates after passing language tests.
• Bachelor’s degree with 8-12 years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree with 6-10 years of experience. Additional experience may substitute for a degree.
• Translation/interpretation degree preferred.
• 3+ years of recent professional translation, transcription, or interpretation experience.
• Pass a Leidos-administered language proficiency test at the Senior level or higher.
• Willingness to TDY to any location.
• HLT (Host Language Test) experience a plus.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and online research.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and target language.
• Travel required: 0-50%.

Preferred Qualifications ✨

• Experience supporting contingency operations as a deployed linguist.
• Knowledge of the U.S. Intelligence Community, military, or law enforcement operations.
• Ability to brief stakeholders effectively.
• Proficiency in multiple languages is highly advantageous.
