Job Description 📋

The Retail Banker I acts as a customer liaison vital to fulfilling TD’s brand promise. Using financial expertise and consultative advice, you will assist Customers with their banking needs. Your efforts will support business growth by identifying suitable TD solutions to help Customers reach their financial goals and strengthen their relationship with TD.

Depth & Scope

  • Proficient in products, services, and routine transactions to educate or refer Customers appropriately, ensuring a positive experience
  • Broad knowledge of full product suite, services, and processes, with low to moderate complexity/risk
  • Build and nurture Customer relationships through active listening, product knowledge, and solution offering
  • Recommend products tailored to customer needs, highlighting benefits that support their financial well-being
  • Utilize CRM tools for proactive assessments, outbound sales, and solutions
  • Resolve issues independently, escalating when necessary
  • Explain detailed or complex information clearly to customers
  • Participate in outreach, servicing, and advisory activities to embody our "unexpectedly human" promise
  • Engage in conversations about loan products and facilitate application intake
  • Maintain active registration with NMLS (Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry)

Education & Experience 🎓

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1+ years of customer service or sales experience (or equivalent, e.g., volunteering, education, military)
  • Teller experience preferred
  • Complete teller training upon hire
  • Skill in engaging customers and educating them on products/services
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills
  • Excellent communication: concise, clear, and consistent
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Sound judgment and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Notary License (Preferred)

Customer Accountabilities 🌟

  • Deliver legendary customer experiences through relationship-building and service excellence
  • Support customer confidence with educational content, advice, and proactive insights
  • Act as a customer advocate, providing solutions for savings, time, and money
  • Handle transactions like deposits, withdrawals, transfers, and check cashing, adhering to operational policies and fraud mitigation
  • Guide customers on self-service options and digital banking tools
  • Act as a point of escalation for customer questions or concerns
  • Maintain a branding presence internally and externally

Shareholder Accountabilities 📈

  • Ensure compliance with policies like the Bank Secrecy Act and Patriot Act
  • Support operational processes aligned with TD’s risk framework
  • Maintain accurate documentation and due diligence in transactions
  • Adhere to the Bank’s Code of Conduct
  • Contribute to operational excellence and risk management

Regulatory & Physical Requirements

Regulation Z & SAFE Act: You must be eligible for employment under federal standards, including registration as a mortgage loan originator with NMLS.

Physical Requirements: This role involves sedentary work, frequent sitting, standing, and walking, with occasional lifting and movement. Continuity in concentration and problem-solving is essential.

  • Travel: Occasional domestic, no international travel
  • Workplace: Standard office environment with standard equipment usage
