Job Description

The Retail Banker I is a vital customer liaison role, dedicated to delivering TD’s Brand promise through financial expertise and consultative advice. You will assist customers in their banking needs, helping them achieve their financial goals while fostering strong relationships and contributing to business growth.

Depth & Scope

  • Proficient in banking products, services, and routine transactions to educate customers and refer them to appropriate team members or partners.
  • Maintain a broad understanding of the full product suite and processes, managing low to moderate risk scenarios.
  • Establish and nurture customer relationships through product knowledge, active listening, and engaging conversations to identify additional needs.
  • Make personalized product recommendations, highlighting features and benefits that support customer financial well-being.
  • Utilize CRM tools to proactively assess customer needs and lead outbound sales activities.
  • Resolve customer issues independently, escalating when necessary.
  • Explain detailed banking information and build trust with customers.
  • Participate in outreach and advisory activities aligned with TD’s human-centered approach.
  • Engage customers in loan applications and facilitate processes.
  • Maintain active registration with NMLS (Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry).

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1+ years’ experience in customer service or sales, including volunteering, education, or military experience (preferred)
  • Teller experience (preferred)
  • Completion of teller training required upon hire
  • Strong conversational and organizational skills, with ability to prioritize and work independently
  • Excellent communication and Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Notary License (preferred)

Customer Accountabilities

  • Deliver a legendary customer experience through relationship building and expert advice
  • Support TD’s Customer Service Strategy with trust-building, consultative support, and proactive insights
  • Act as a customer advocate, offering tips and resolving concerns to boost financial confidence
  • Orchestrate customer flow, provide a warm welcome, and identify their needs
  • Educate customers on self-service options and digital banking channels
  • Handle various teller transactions while monitoring for fraud and adhering to policies
  • Recognize transaction needs and promote self-service banking
  • Turn each banking interaction into a personalized, genuine experience

Shareholder Accountabilities

  • Ensure compliance with regulations such as the Bank Secrecy Act and Patriot Act
  • Support daily store operations aligned with TD's risk framework
  • Maintain accurate documentation and support operational excellence
  • Escalate high-risk transactions as needed and adhere to policies

Regulatory & Physical Requirements

This role meets the definitions under Regulation Z and SAFE Act for Loan & Mortgage Originators, requiring eligibility for registration with NMLS and successful background checks. The physical demands include frequent sitting, standing, and interaction with office equipment, with occasional walking, lifting, and other movement activities.
