Job Description
The Retail Banker I acts as a customer liaison, utilizing financial expertise and consultative advice to support customers with their banking needs. This role drives business growth by identifying appropriate TD solutions to help customers meet their financial goals and strengthen their relationship with TD.
Key Responsibilities & Scope
- Proficient in products, services, and routine transactions, fostering positive customer experiences
- Builds and maintains customer relationships through active listening and product knowledge
- Recommends products based on customer needs, highlighting features and benefits
- Uses CRM tools to proactively assess customer needs and lead outbound sales activities
- Independently resolves customer issues and escalates when needed
- Facilitates loan applications and maintains active NMLS registration
- Participates in customer outreach and service activities aligning with TD’s human-centric promise
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1+ years experience in customer service or sales, including volunteering, education, or military service (preferred)
- Teller experience and completion of teller training upon hire preferred
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Notary License (Preferred)
Customer Accountabilities
- Deliver a Legendary customer experience through relationship building and service excellence
- Support the bank’s customer service strategy by providing end-to-end advice, proactive insights, and solutions
- Act as a customer advocate, enhancing financial confidence and resolving issues
- Orchestrate customer flow, educate on self-service options, and guide appropriate transactions
- Recognize needs and educate customers on digital and self-service channels
- Turn each interaction into a personalized, genuine experience
Shareholder & Operational Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with regulations such as the Bank Secrecy Act and Patriot Act
- Participate in daily store operations, supporting risk management and operational policies
- Maintain accurate documentation and support operational excellence

Regulatory & Physical Requirements
This position qualifies under Regulation Z of the Truth in Lending Act and SAFE Act, requiring registration with NMLS. Satisfactory background and credit checks are necessary.
Physical requirements include:
- Continuous: sitting, concentrating, reading, writing, and standard office tasks
- Frequent: sitting and standing
- Occasional: walking, lifting under 25 lbs., bending, kneeling, crawling, climbing, reaching, pushing/pulling, twisting
