Role Overview: Retail Banker I 🏦
The Retail Banker I serves as a customer liaison, embodying TD’s brand by providing financial expertise and consultative advice to meet customer needs. This role supports business growth by identifying suitable TD solutions to help customers achieve their financial goals.
Key Responsibilities & Scope 🔍
- Educate customers on bank products & services and refer them as needed.
- Maintain broad knowledge of products and processes with low to moderate risk.
- Build and nurture customer relationships through active listening and engagement.
- Recommend products based on customer needs, highlighting benefits.
- Utilize CRM tools for proactive assessments and outbound sales activities.
- Resolve customer issues independently, escalating when necessary.
- Explain detailed information clearly and foster strong working relationships.
- Participate in outreach, servicing, and advice activities aligned with TD’s customer promises.
- Engage in conversations around loan products and facilitate application intake.
- Maintain active registration with NMLS.
Qualifications: Education & Experience 🎓
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least 1+ years of customer service or sales experience (volunteering, education, military experience preferred)
- Experience as a Teller is preferred
- Ability to complete teller training upon hire
- Strong communication, organization, and independence skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Notary License (preferred)
Customer Accountabilities 💼
- Deliver a legendary customer experience through relationship building and advice
- Support TD’s customer service strategy with trust-building and proactive support
- Advocate for customers by offering insights to save time and money
- Manage in-store customer flow and transactions, ensuring operational policies are followed
- Educate customers on self-service options, including digital channels
- Act as a point of escalation when necessary
- Display brand ambassador behavior both internally and externally
Shareholder & Operational Responsibilities 📈
- Ensure compliance with regulations like Bank Secrecy and Patriot Acts
- Support daily store operations aligned with risk frameworks
- Accurately complete documentation and conduct due diligence
- Adhere to the Bank’s code of conduct and operational policies
Team & Employee Development 🌱
- Participate actively in team efforts and support a positive work environment
- Engage in ongoing learning and performance development
- Build strong relationships with partners for effective referrals
- Embrace change and promote TD’s inclusive culture
Regulatory & Physical Requirements 📝
- This position qualifies as a Loan Originator under Regulation Z & SAFE Act.
- Must be eligible for registration with NMLS.
- Background and credit checks are required.
- Physical Demands: Sitting, standing, walking, reaching, lifting, twisting, concentration, and standard office activities.
- Travel: Occasional domestic; no international travel expected.
