Job Summary
This role requires proficiency in both Chinese (biliteracy) and spoken Cantonese fluency. The position is integrated with the SRO Families United Collaborative (SROFUC), a diverse, multilingual alliance of five community-based organizations (CBOs) located in Chinatown, the Mission District, the Tenderloin, and South of Market. Our shared mission is to organize and empower families living in Single Room Occupancy (SRO) hotels to advocate for their rights, improve living conditions, access vital services, and secure decent housing.
The supervisor will collaborate with representatives from these CBOs to meet performance goals established by CCDC. Responsibilities include providing guidance, maintaining communication, collecting performance data, submitting quarterly reports to funders, and presenting during annual program audits.
Essential Functions 🛠️
- Provide supervision and onboarding training to Rental Subsidy Officers (RSOs) and Project Coordinators (PCs).
- Partner with the Community Coalition Manager (CCM) to implement the Rental Subsidy Program, overseeing everything from pre-application to post-application stages.
- Coordinate with cross-departmental teams, including Compliance and Fiscal, to ensure seamless program delivery.
- Support the CCM in guiding SROFUC members toward achieving annual objectives and program goals.
- Encourage civic engagement dialogues within the low-income community and assist in meeting civic participation objectives.
Job Responsibilities 📋
- Collaborate with the CCM to manage ongoing housing assistance for families, promoting housing stability.
- Provide administrative support and guidance to SROFUC CBOs to meet annual deliverables and work objectives.
- Support and advance civic engagement initiatives.
- Perform other related duties as needed.

- A passion for working with low-income, immigrant families from diverse backgrounds, with a focus on empowerment through organizing and services.
- High sensitivity and confidentiality regarding family information and housing cases.
- Experience supervising small teams of skilled organizers.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency in reading and writing Chinese and fluency in Cantonese speaking skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Basic computer skills, including Word processing in Chinese.
- Ability to professionally represent SROFUC and Chinatown CDC during interactions with families and community partners.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Fluency in English and biliteracy in Chinese.
- Educational requirements: High school diploma or GED; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- 1+ year of experience in community organizing, advocacy, or program management, plus 1-2 years supervisory experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Familiarity with Chinatown and low-income immigrant communities and issues.
- Ability to communicate clearly, verbally and in writing, in Mandarin and/or Taishanese.
- Experience serving low-income, elderly, and disabled populations is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications 🌟
- Providing oversight to RSOs and PCs.
- Training, supporting, and supervising staff, including conducting performance reviews and setting work goals.
- Recruiting, interviewing, and hiring candidates for staff roles.
- Leading educational workshops and outreach to SRO residents regarding rental subsidies and housing vouchers.
- Assisting families through the application process for rental subsidies and other housing programs, including conducting assessments and supporting form completion.
