Position Summary

Accent on Languages seeks a highly qualified over-the-phone interpreter to work remotely across the United States under a Federal Government contract. This role is exclusively for Hindi language interpretation.

Job Description 📝

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide consecutive interpretation services from your home office for Federal Government clients.
• Ensure accuracy, completeness, and clarity during each session.
• Maintain professional and ethical standards as outlined by Accent on Languages.
• Continuously expand your vocabulary and professional knowledge.
• Respond constructively to feedback and participate in training and mentorship programs.
• Keep all interpreting sessions confidential.
• Handle sessions lasting 2 to 4 hours effectively.

Important Requirements 🚩

• You must be a U.S. citizen or hold a U.S. green card and have resided in the U.S. for the past 3 years.
• You must be legally permitted to work in the U.S.
• Pass a clearance process, including paperwork and language screening; current government clearance is preferred.
• Adhere strictly to the interpreter's code of ethics and industry standards.
• Remain loyal to the source language, providing impartial and complete interpretation without counseling or personal opinions.
• Maintain confidentiality of all session information.

Qualifications & Skills ✅

• Professional proficiency and experience in over-the-phone interpretation required.
• At least 6 months of relevant interpretation or related experience.
• Ability to pass a language assessment in relevant terminology.
• Completion of a language proficiency interview/assessment preferred, especially for less common languages.
• Effective cross-cultural communication skills.
• Proficiency in using multiple software and phone systems simultaneously.
• Capacity to sit and interpret over the phone for extended periods.
• Strong concentration and note-taking skills in fast-paced environments.
• Current or previous government clearance is a plus.
• Experience with government settings is highly desirable.
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
• Recognition in language interpretation certifications (legal or community) is advantageous.
