Position Overview

We are looking for an Over-the-Phone Hindi Interpreter who will provide consecutive interpretation services from a home office in the US, serving federal government clients. Prior training and experience are essential to ensure accurate and professional interpretation. Candidates may need to pass an assessment and follow our ethical and professional guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide accurate, clear, and complete interpretation during each session 📝
• Communicate ideas effectively and convey messages precisely
• Deliver excellent customer service and uphold high-quality standards
• Adhere to Accent on Languages' and industry professional association guidelines
• Maintain confidentiality for all interpreting sessions
• Handle sessions lasting 2-4 hours with professionalism
• Continuously expand professional knowledge and vocabulary
• Take feedback constructively to improve performance
• Complete all required training, mentorship, and coaching

Important Requirements

• Be a U.S. citizen or hold a U.S. green card, with residency in the U.S. for at least the past 3 years 🇺🇸
• Legally permitted to work in the U.S. 📝
• Complete all legal and language screening processes promptly
  (current government clearance is a plus)
• Adhere strictly to the interpreter’s code of ethics and confidentiality
• Perform accurate interpretation without offering counseling or personal opinions

Qualifications

• Professional proficiency and experience in over-the-phone interpretation required
• At least 6 months of relevant interpretation experience
• Ability to pass a language assessment of relevant terminology 📋
• Documented proficiency interview/assessment preferred for less common languages
• Strong cross-cultural communication skills
• Proficiency with multiple software and phone systems
• Capability to interpret over extended periods and maintain focus
• Previous government clearance is preferred
• Experience working within government projects is highly desirable
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required; college degree preferred 🎓
• Certification in legal or community language interpretation is a plus
