About the Role

TransPerfect Connect (TPC) is seeking highly fluent, professional bilingual speakers (English & Korean) with experience in a call center-style environment. This structured position involves interpreting across various industries such as healthcare, legal, and financial services, providing you with comprehensive paid training to kick-start your career as an Over-the-Phone Interpreter (OPI) and Video Remote Interpreter (VRI).

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide interpretation services: Between English and Korean across diverse industries.
  • Maintain accuracy and neutrality: Preserving tone, emotion, and intent in every call.
  • Handle live calls professionally: Managing flow, intervening respectfully when necessary.
  • Exhibit emotional intelligence: Staying calm and empathetic in high-pressure situations.
  • Apply interpretation techniques: Active listening, note-taking, and memory retention for complex conversations.
  • Follow protocols: Ensuring confidentiality, neutrality, and professionalism.
  • Engage in training: Attend coaching, feedback sessions, and continuous learning.
  • Utilize basic computer skills: Manage calls and log activity using MS Office and internal platforms.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (college preferred) 🎓
  • Fluency in English & Korean (B2+ or higher) 🗣️
  • Ability to pass language and interpretation assessments ✅
  • Minimum 6 months’ experience in a call center or interpreting role 🎧
  • Strong communication skills, bilingual accuracy, and professionalism 💬
  • Ability to handle emotionally charged conversations with integrity and responsibility 🔐
  • Proficiency with basic computer skills and MS Office tools 💻
  • Quiet, distraction-free workspace 🧘‍♂️
  • Stable internet connection (cable, DSL, fiber). Cellular hotspots aren’t permitted 📶
  • Valid government-issued photo ID (required throughout recruitment and onboarding) 🪪

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in medical, legal, or community interpreting 🎖️ (a strong plus)
  • Experience with remote work platforms and tools 💻

Remote Work Requirements

  • Quiet, ergonomic workspace 🖥️
  • Desktop or laptop (Windows or Mac, at least 16GB RAM) 🖥️
  • High-speed broadband internet (minimum 30 Mbps download / 10 Mbps upload) 🚀
  • Computer no older than 5 years, with a functioning webcam 📹
  • Windows 10 or newer / macOS Big Sur (OS 11) or newer 🖥️
