Position Highlights

• Position: Registered Nurse - School Program
• Hourly Pay Range: $31.84 - $49.66
  *(Rate determined by experience and expertise)*
• Location: Assigned to 2 schools
• Work Type: Part-Time | 20 hours/week
• Shifts: Wednesdays and Thursdays, 7:45 am - 3:45 pm

What You Will Do

• Provide age-appropriate care, demonstrating knowledge of physical and psychological needs of students and staff.
• Respond promptly to injuries or sudden illnesses of students or staff members.
• Maintain up-to-date health records in compliance with state and school policies.
• Administer and monitor medications and prescribed treatments during school hours.
• Identify and refer students with medical, dental, or healthcare needs; collaborate with parents, staff, physicians, and agencies.
• Advise on exclusion and readmission procedures for students with infectious diseases.
• Develop and implement health and wellness programs for students as requested.
• Provide staff education and in-service training on health needs.
• Conduct home visits to observe students and families as needed.
• Perform school health screenings, including vision and hearing tests, and refer for further evaluation.
• Follow school health policies and district guidelines diligently.
• Recommend modifications to educational programs to accommodate health needs of students.
• Assess environmental safety, ensuring a safe environment tailored to age and development.
• Participate in meetings and conferences related to student health services and curriculum development.

What You Will Need

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
• Certifications: Current Type 73 School Nurse Certification and CPR certification (American Heart Association or Red Cross)
• License: Valid Illinois Professional Registered Nurse License
• Experience: Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
