The Role

We are seeking a proactive and meticulous Real Estate Attorney to lead residential and commercial property transactions within our growing Flushing office. This role demands a legal professional capable of managing numerous closings while delivering sophisticated counsel to a diverse clientele, particularly bridging New York property law with the unique needs of Chinese-speaking clients for a seamless, culturally competent experience. 🏢✨

Key Responsibilities

• Legal Counsel & Strategy: Represent buyers, sellers, and lenders in all phases of real estate transactions, from initial contract negotiation to closing.
• Complex Drafting: Draft and negotiate purchase and sale agreements, commercial leases, riders, and complex financing documents.
• Title Oversight: Review title reports and surveys; provide legal solutions for complex clouds on title, including easements, encroachments, and estate-related issues.
• ACRIS & Regulatory Compliance: Supervise the preparation of NYC-specific filings (ACRIS, TP-584, IT-2663) and ensure compliance with FIRPTA and 1031 Exchange requirements.
• Bilingual Advocacy: Conduct legal consultations and closings in Mandarin and/or Cantonese, ensuring clients fully understand their legal obligations and risks.
• Escrow Management: Oversee attorney escrow accounts, ensuring the ethical and accurate disbursement of funds in accordance with NYS IOLA rules.
• Mentorship: Supervise and guide real estate paralegals and support staff to foster a collaborative team environment.

Required Qualifications

• Legal Credentials: Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school with an active license to practice law in New York State.
• Language Mastery: Professional fluency in Mandarin and/or Cantonese; capable of explaining complex legal concepts fluently in-language.
• Experience: 3–7 years of focused experience in New York real estate law, including residential and commercial sectors.
• Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the Flushing real estate market, including new construction condos, mixed-use properties, and Co-op board processes.
• Communication Skills: Exceptional negotiation abilities and strong relationships with local brokers, lenders, and opposing counsel.

Preferred Attributes

• Experience working with Foreign National buyers and navigating their specific banking and tax challenges.
• Established network within the Queens real estate community.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a high-volume, fast-paced environment—true "Queens-speed" multitasking. ⚡

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $60,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year 💰
