McKinley Paper and Packaging, a leading international manufacturer of corrugated packaging containers, is excited to invite applications for the role of Purchasing Manager at our Corporate Office located in Farmers Branch, TX.

About the Role

The Purchasing Manager will oversee and direct all activities within the purchasing department, ensuring efficient procurement processes and vendor relationships.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • 🤝 Hires and manages the Purchasing Supervisors and other staff as needed
  • 🗓️ Oversees daily workflow and departmental schedules
  • 📝 Conducts timely and constructive performance evaluations
  • 🚫 Handles discipline and employee termination in accordance with company policy

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • 🤝 Collaborates with departments and leadership to identify needs for equipment, materials, and acceptable substitutions
  • 📊 Assesses current material availability and predicts future supply based on market conditions and delivery systems
  • 📝 Prepares and presents market condition reports and merchandise cost analysis
  • 🤝 Negotiates contracts with vendors, suppliers, and contractors
  • 📝 Prepares and processes purchase orders and requisitions for necessary materials and supplies
  • 📋 Drafts, explains, and enforces policies and procedures related to purchasing and contracts
  • 🔍 Evaluates and approves bid conditions and awarding processes
  • 🤝 Resolves grievances with vendors, contractors, and suppliers
  • 🗃️ Maintains and improves purchasing and recordkeeping systems
  • 🤝 Acts as the company's representative during negotiations with suppliers
  • ♻️ Manages removal or disposal of surplus materials
  • 💰 Administers the departmental budget
  • 🔧 Performs other duties and special projects as assigned

  • 📚 Solid understanding of business and management principles
  • 📦 In-depth knowledge of materials and supplies used in our operations
  • 💻 Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or related software

Education & Experience

  • 🎓 Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or a related field required
  • 📅 Minimum of 7+ years of experience in purchasing, inventory/warehousing, or production planning
  • 🖥️ Experience with SAP is preferred
  • 🗣️ Bilingual (Spanish) skills are a plus

Physical Requirements

  • 💻 Extended periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • 🏋️‍♂️ Ability to lift up to 25 pounds when necessary
  • 🔍 Access to all areas of the facility to assess needs
  • ✈️ May involve travel as required
