Video Interpreter Responsibilities
- Deliver effective video remote interpreting services for consumers, with occasional audio calls as needed.
- Follow all policies and procedures outlined by AMN Language Services.
- Maintain professional behavior including punctuality, attendance, preparedness, respectful interactions, and accurate record keeping.
- Adapt quickly to new and evolving technologies.
- Complete training on video platforms and pass internal readiness checks before handling live calls.
- Participate in quality assurance and call monitoring programs to ensure high service standards.
Required Qualifications ✅
- Fluent with strong verbal communication skills in both source and target languages
- Successful completion of a medical language proficiency assessment covering interpreter protocols and medical terminology
- Respectful understanding of LEP clients, their culture, dialect, and healthcare preferences
Preferred Qualifications 🌟
- 2-5 years of US-based medical interpreting experience
- National interpreting certification (CCHI or CMI)
- Degrees or certifications in interpreting practices
- Accredited medical interpreting training courses (e.g., ALTA, MITS, Bridging the Gap, MiTio, Cross-Cultural training)
- Extensive knowledge of code of ethics and standards (IMIA, NBCMI, NCIHC)
- Familiarity with HIPAA and other healthcare privacy laws
Home Office Requirements 🏡
- Private room with full-length (floor-to-ceiling) walls
- Lockable door for privacy
- Hardwired high-speed internet connection
- This role must be performed from a private, company-approved workspace—not public areas, travel trailers, or other shared spaces
Physical Requirements 💪
- Ability to sit for long periods (up to 8 hours)
- Comfort with using an on-ear headset during shifts
- Use a webcam for communication with patients and providers
- Good vision including close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, plus focus adjustment
- Occasional lifting/moving up to 25 pounds
- Ability to walk, sit, handle objects, reach, stoop, talk, and hear as needed

Additional Details
Work Eligibility: Must be authorized to work in the USA.
Job Type: Part-time, with a fixed schedule between 20–28 hours per week.
Pay Scale: $19.00 – $22.00/hr (depending on experience, training, education, and location; some situations may vary outside this range)
