Video Interpreter Responsibilities
- Provide effective video remote interpreting services for a diverse range of clients. While primarily video, occasional audio calls may occur.
- Follow all policies and procedures outlined by AMN Language Services.
- Maintain professional behavior, including punctuality, preparedness, respectful collaboration, and accurate record-keeping.
- Adapt quickly to new and evolving technologies.
- Complete training on video platforms and pass internal readiness checks before live calls.
- Participate in ongoing quality assurance and call monitoring programs.
Required Qualifications
- Fluent in both source and target languages with strong verbal communication skills.
- Successful completion of a medical language proficiency assessment focused on interpreter protocols and terminology.
- Respect and understanding of LEP clients’ culture, dialect, beliefs, and care preferences.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2-5 years of professional US-based medical interpreting experience.
- National interpreting certification (CCHI or CMI).
- Degrees or certifications in interpreting practices.
- Completion of accredited medical interpreting courses (e.g., ALTA, MITS, Bridging the Gap, MiTio, Cross-Cultural training).
- Extensive knowledge of professional ethics and standards (IMIA, NBCMI, NCIHC).
- Understanding of medical privacy laws (HIPAA) and applicable state/federal regulations.
Home Office Requirements
- A private room with full-length (floor-to-ceiling) walls and a lockable door.
- Hardwired high-speed internet connection.
- This role must be performed from a private, company-approved workspace — not from public or shared spaces.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit comfortably for up to 8 hours.
- Use of both ears with a headset for the entire shift.
- Use a webcam to interact with patients and providers.
- Excellent vision abilities including close, distant, color, peripheral, and depth perception, with the capacity to adjust focus.
- Occasional lifting or moving up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to walk, sit, handle objects, reach, stoop, and communicate effectively.

Additional Details
Work Eligibility: Must be authorized to work in the USA.
Job Type: Part-time, with a fixed schedule of 20-28 hours per week.
Pay Range: $19.00 – $22.00* per hour
*Rate varies based on experience, training, education, and location, with some situations possibly outside this range.
