Position: Part-Time Bilingual Help 365 Bronx Case Manager (English/Spanish)

Role Overview

The Part-Time Bilingual Help 365 Bronx Case Manager will assist new and existing Pantry Members with processings such as intake, orientation, eligibility screenings, and benefits acquisition. This role involves guiding members through the Choice Pantry Bronx program, issuing membership cards, and explaining program rules. Additionally, the Case Manager will help members access benefits like Food Stamps, Medicaid, Public Assistance, Social Security, and employment referrals, ensuring they receive the necessary support to maintain stability and prevent eviction.

This position reports to the Managing Director of Programs at our Bronx location (1290 Hoe Ave, Bronx, NY 10459). The schedule is from Tuesday to Saturday, 10 am to 3 pm, totaling up to 28 hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct intake assessments for all new clients, providing emergency pantry assistance as needed.
  • Screen clients using ACCESS NYC to determine eligibility for public benefits and entitlements.
  • Educate clients on available benefits and collaborate to identify suitable services through case management.
  • Assist with applications for public benefits such as SNAP (Food Stamps), ensuring timely follow-up.
  • Verify and document receipt of benefits and entitlements for each client.
  • Create and maintain accurate Pantry Membership records to support ongoing food assistance.
  • Perform annual recertifications and re-screenings to maintain eligibility.
  • Resolve membership issues including lost, inactive, or incorrect card problems.
  • Maintain confidential case records using our client database.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support program goals.

Qualifications

  • Full professional proficiency in both English and Spanish is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, or a related field is preferred; equivalent work experience is also acceptable.
  • Commitment to helping communities and supporting NYCP’s mission.
  • Strong knowledge of public benefits, entitlements, and related systems.
  • Experience with case management databases is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive).
  • Excellent data entry and spreadsheet skills, with the ability to quickly learn new systems.
  • Solid computer literacy and basic administrative skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations in a respectful, culturally competent manner.
  • Strong multitasking and efficiency skills to navigate high-traffic environments.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
