We are seeking a dedicated Program Manager to lead and coordinate vibrant congregational programs, fostering meaningful Jewish experiences and strengthening our community bonds.

Position Summary

The Program Manager reports directly to the Executive Director and is a vital part of our professional team. This role involves planning, coordinating, and executing a diverse array of programs and events in collaboration with clergy, staff, lay leaders, and the broader community, all aimed at enriching member engagement and embodying our congregation's values and mission.

Key Responsibilities

Program Planning & Execution 🗓️

  • Design, coordinate, and manage a full calendar of congregational programs including holiday celebrations, Shabbat programming, cultural events, and community gatherings
  • Collaborate with clergy and lay committees to develop programming aligned with our mission and strategic goals
  • Oversee logistics for events such as venue arrangements, vendor management, catering, A/V setups, and volunteer recruitment
  • Manage and enhance our facility rental program
  • Handle program budgets and monitor expenses

Community Engagement 🤝

  • Act as the primary contact for member inquiries related to programs and events
  • Build and maintain relationships with members, community partners, and Jewish organizations in the Bay Area
  • Develop outreach strategies to attract new members and re-engage lapsed participants
  • Support lifecycle events such as baby namings, memorials, and weddings in collaboration with clergy

Volunteer & Committee Management 🙌

  • Support and guide lay-led committees with professional oversight and administrative support
  • Recognize and develop volunteer leadership to promote long-term community involvement

Communications & Marketing 📢

  • Partner with the communications team to promote programs via email, social media, website, and print materials
  • Craft engaging program descriptions and promotional content for diverse audiences
  • Collect feedback and attendance data to enhance future offerings

Position Qualifications

Required ✅

  • 3+ years of experience in program management, event coordination, or community organizing
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills with keen attention to detail
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders—including clergy, lay leaders, staff, and volunteers
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and project management platforms
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and Jewish holidays

Preferred 🌟

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Knowledge of and commitment to Jewish tradition, culture, and values
  • Experience working within a synagogue or Jewish nonprofit organization
  • Familiarity with the San Francisco Bay Area Jewish community
  • Bilingual skills (e.g., Hebrew, Spanish, or other community languages) a plus
