Job Summary

The PREP Clinic Coordinator Bilingual plays a crucial role in facilitating, coordinating, educating, and raising awareness about the city's efforts to end the HIV epidemic. As a member of the Community Health Team focused on HIV/STI prevention and PREP (Pre-exposure prophylaxis) adoption among high-risk populations, this position supports efforts to prevent infections by providing access to treatment, supportive services, and inclusive sexual health education. The primary goal is to ensure the success and expansion of the PREP Clinic Program within the health center, including client services, program coordination, and team mentorship. The Coordinator works directly with the Sr. Director of Community Health to maintain program productivity and sustainability, while also engaging community outreach and immediate care for PEP clients. 🚀

Primary Essential Duties

  • 💬 Serve as the main point of contact for PREP Clinic patients, answering questions about PREP and services.
  • 🤝 Support the Prevention Programs Manager in daily clinic operations.
  • 📝 Coordinate prescriptions from the pharmacy and manage medication inventory until delivery or administration.
  • 💉 Oversee PREP injectable treatments, including administering injectable cabotegravir.
  • 📋 Provide personalized education sessions on PREP and sexual health topics.
  • 🔬 Conduct HIV/STI testing and process lab samples.
  • 🔗 Refer clients to PREP Navigators and other Whitman-Walker programs as appropriate.
  • 📅 Lead quarterly patient re-engagement campaigns.
  • 📊 Prepare monthly reports and maintain thorough documentation of activities and data collection.
  • 🧪 Assist with inventory maintenance of testing kits and lab materials.
  • 🌐 Conduct outreach with community agencies and social groups to promote services and enroll new clients.
  • 📝 Develop policies, standards, and procedures to achieve program goals, and evaluate ongoing activities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Talents Required

  • 🧬 Understanding of ambulatory healthcare, HIV/STDs, substance use, PEP, and PREP protocols.
  • 🌆 Familiarity with the DC community dynamics and resources.
  • 🤝 Ability to conduct sensitive, empathetic interviews respecting client dignity and diversity.
  • 🗣️ Excellent interpersonal skills to educate, treat, and counsel clients from diverse backgrounds.
  • 🗨️ Strong oral and written communication, with enthusiasm for group and individual education.
  • 📈 Analytical skills to interpret and present data related to community health metrics.
  • 🗂️ Strong organizational skills to handle multiple priorities and adapt to changing deadlines.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • 🎓 Bachelor's Degree or at least four years of relevant experience.
  • 🩺 HIV testing and counseling certification from INSTI preferred; experience working with people living with HIV is a plus.
  • 🌍 Experience engaging with diverse populations and working harmoniously within such groups is essential.
  • 💉 Completion of phlebotomy and injection training certifications required.
