About the Center and Project

The Center on Religion and the Global East at Purdue University invites applications for this research position. The role is part of the funded project "Global East Religiosity and Changing Religious Landscapes", which involves:

• Surveys of individuals
• Mapping religious sites
• Comparative historical studies of Christianity in East Asian societies

Research Focus

We seek a motivated and independent researcher to investigate Christianity in Korea from approximately 1900 to the present day. The successful candidate will contribute to understanding religious transformations and social dynamics within Korea's Christian communities.

Qualifications

• Education: PhD completed by employment start date in fields such as sociology, history, political science, geography, religious studies, or related disciplines.
• Languages: Fluency in Korean and English required
• Research Skills: Experience with social surveys and GIS are advantageous
• Personal Qualities: Energetic, independent, and capable of collaborative research
